Physical method

Physical Destruction

Render drives unusable and unreadable — including against forensic analysis.

When software cannot run

Destroy the media itself

Physical destruction is the option when a drive has no usable interface, will not boot for software erasure, or must remain unreadable even under forensic analysis.

This method is not accompanied by a Data Destruction Certificate, so it is not recommended if documented proof is required. Residual parts are recycled in full conformance with the Malaysian Department of Environment.

Drilling Crushing Recycling residues
01

Drilling

Platters are punctured so the drive can never spin or be mounted again.

02

Grinding

Media surfaces are ground away, destroying the magnetic layers that hold data.

03

Crushing

The chassis is compacted. Residues go into licensed DOE recycling.
